Balaga Tongo-1 Route 1 Football FC-5

Almost back to full strength for their third game Balaga were feeling pretty confident stepping onto pitch 3 in CIT last night. Team news saw young webz, Damo, was replacing his older sibling... webz. Bulletproof Blake Shine had gotten ideas into his head of playing outfield, so Phil started between the sticks.

Balaga found it hard to get stuck in the game, getting bustled off the ball easily by the man heffers playing for route 1, particulary the big fella who kept making us look crap by doing solos. The Tongoneise tried to play some total football but it was the route 1 tatic for balaga which was creating the most problems. Phils great distribution from the penalty area to launch attacks, culminated in a goal when he booted the ball up to the edge of the R1FC box, it was controlled by o'callaghan who played a dodgy cross/hashed shot for Damo. He in true kennedy fashion swept the ball into the net. There was also some questionable moments from stand in goaltender Phil O Driscoll though as some seemingly easy shots crept by while R1FC got their tally up to 4 before the whistle.

In the second half balaga came out with regular Blake Shine back infornt of the net and Phil O Driscoll back in his defender/midfield/playmaker role. Confidence was better in defence with Bulletproof Blake solid and Deano getting back in his stride after only coming back from a long winter layoff. Kev, Tom, and Phil kind of played all over the place trying to create something for Damo upfront while helping Deano at the back. The half was tight and Balaga didnt deserve to concede as the R1FC keeper punted a long ball which Blake left to go out, as it suprisingly rebounded off the crossbar the R1FC red haired winger was first to react as he finished cool-ly. There were some good chances for Kev, Damo, Phil to get a goal back as balaga pressed forward. Even Deano strode forward and took a long range pop. But it was not to be and Balaga came out of their third game with their third straight defeat. Battered and bruised it looks to be a long relegation battle again in 2008.

Team members blake and Tom down in the dumps...

With webz stuck on a wednesday shift next week aswell, Damo maybe called upon as balaga really look to get a settled team and formation.

Balaga 0 - around 7 or 8 Miah platini

A dissapointing game for Balaga who started well but fell apart in the second half. The 3 new boys did well but as they never played together before, things just didnt happen. The less said the better.

Scouts Honour

Attacking midfielder turned scout Phillip O'Driscoll was on a 24 hour mission to try and get players for tonights match. In the end he secured the signature of Darren Farrell, although little is know of the players past or what position he plays.
Deano's big brother is in to replace the younger Graham in defense and finally an old Balaga player Mickey Meade(younger brother of Tongo crowd favorite Billy Meade) is in to replace Webz up front.

New Balaga Rule

Balaga Tongo have been forced to release a new rule to prevent future game's from being abandoned due to lack of players. There is a good chance that Balaga will not be able to field a team for tomorrow’s game against the bottom team Miah Platini due to UCC's rag week and therefor may have to give Platini the game 6-0. A black day in Balaga's history.

Rule 1:

UNLESS YOU CAN REPLACE YOURSELF WITH A PLAYER OF ADEQUIT STANDARD YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED PULL OUT OF THE MATCH. THIS RULE IS THE SAME FOR EVERYONE.

G.1: Majestic Rovers 6 Balaga Tongo 4

Balaga go down to Majestic... A Disappointing result but a great game.

Graham Deane was a last second casuality due to doctors orders. After suffering from some kind of rare jungle hooping cough for the last month it was about time he went though. He brought in scab "Neill" as a replacment...

Team was:
Goaaaals - Blake
Defence(ish) - Kevin and Tom
Mid - young Neill
UP Front Hai - Phil and Webz

Some rocky defending in the first half from Tom and Kev was Balagas downfall as they failed to get thier heads in the game after the christmas break and left thier keeper exposed for 5 goals... Second half they were much more solid and almost kept a second half clean sheet...

Neill played well in midfield making some nice runs supporting the lads and tracking back well also... Some great play from Phil and Webz up front resulted in a goal for phil and 2 for webz and there maybe should of been more in the first half... The 4th goal came from a Webz corner, it was chipped to the far side of the box where Kev charged in to deliver cracking volly which burst the back of the net...

Blake Shine played well in goal throughout, picking up from where he left off last season... although in the dying minutes a long range shot along the ground resulted in a howler when the ball slid under his foot to kill of the game for Rovers... No fault really tho as the flood lights were broken over his goal... well we'll leave him off anyway cause he was daycent before it...

ALL in ALL after the first match its looking promising for the season ahead, Deanos on steroids and will be returning soon to defence where he stays unlike the rest of us... and there seems to be goals in Webz and phil whos link up play was excellent at times and was the highlight of the match, besides kevins rocket that is...

Opposition report:
Majestic didnt seem to quite have it together and with a dodgy keeper, and another dodgy fella in the team (who they stuck up front after he was rubbish in defence), they were rattled at times... tall fella with spanish jersey and stocky fella with blue undershirt were strong on the ball and the danger men.

JayJay goes GaGa

News has filtered back from the southern hemisphere regarding former midfielder Paul "Juggs" Scott. Reports from the Melbourne Courier, the first scandal paper on the scene, suggested that JJ had thrown in the towel at Melbourne Knights after finding it tough to settle into the Australians all round more professional set up. He donned the famous number 4 Balaga Tongo shirt previously worn by him, and hit the streets of Melbourne with an AK47 he bought from a local arms dealer. The dealer "Alf", when asked why he sold the machine gun said; "well mate, he said he was going to shoot some wild koala’s didn't he, so I took nay notice I didn't". It is believed that news filtered back to JJ regarding the only 4 results Tongo achieved last season directly after Scott left the team. 8 people in total were killed in the massacre, before he was spotted fleeing in the direction of the outback. An onlooker said, "he ran in that direction" pointing in the direction of the outback. It is believed he had always dreamed about living with the Aborigines and that’s where the police are going to begin their search.

Also today Balaga have released their new crest for the 2008 Season. There is little hope however that Balaga will actually have this crest on their jerseys for the new season as they are too cheap to purchase jerseys and refuse to screw their many loyal fan by changing stripe each season.

SPRING SEASON 2008

Balaga Tongo can now be found playing in the same venue but at a earlier time of 8... With a solid 6 starting and Bundy in reserve Balaga could be off to a flyer!!!

heres the team formation...

2007 round up...

Form LLLLLLLLLLDDWD

with 10 losses followed by 3 draws and a win, Balaga Tongo had an up and down season.... although mostly down, they're were positives; a settled team at the end of the season and some good results...

Webz and Phil were the top scorers with 6. Tom followed close behind with 5 and millzie had a late surge of 4 in the last 3 games... Blake was next with 3, which is impressive as he played in goal for most of the season.
